We have created a grant fund for special needs of organizations, schools and libraries that are without an acquisition budget.

Because of the unexpected happenings following Gavin Newsom's proclamation, Carmen and Laurie rushed to make the documentary FREEDOM TO MARRY, without the aid of grant funding, as there was no time to apply.

Now that the film is complete, Carmen and Laurie are entering it into every well-established film festival in the country. FREEDOM TO MARRY was just accepted by the 2004 San Francisco International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival and the Outfest 2004 Festival in Los Angeles. This is a documentary that should be seen by a broad audience. By being included in film festivals, the odds are increased that it will be picked-up by a major distributor and made available to the public.

Your help is needed to cover production and post-production expenses, which include professional studio time for video enhancement. Funds are also needed for music royalty fees and film festival entry fees. Production expenses include such things as: media, travel expenses, equipment rental, musician and recording studio time.

The Arts Council of Mendocino County endorses this project and is pleased to serve as the fiscal sponsor. All donations are tax deductible. Donations in the $250 to $1,000 range are especially appreciated, but your contribution of any size will help Carmen and Laurie continue their work.

The story doesn't end with the making of this film. While FREEDOM TO MARRY is a hopeful documentary, there is much work to be done within the legal system to stop discrimination against same-sex couples. Please give generously and know that you have contributed toward expanding the civil rights of all Arnericans.
